Living at D-Factor: let’s talk about Cultural Policy Pathways

29 May | Liv.in.g at D-Factor: public presentation of the publications Call to Action and Cultural Policy Pathways

As part of the final conference of D-Factor, the training programme promoted by Fondazione Emblema, Accademia Teatro alla Scala and Liv.in.g, a dedicated panel will present Liv.in.g’s two new publications: Call to Action. Cultural policies for those navigating reality, neoliberalism and pluralist narratives (Franco Angeli) and Cultural Policy Pathways(English version, open access).

🗓️ When and where?
Thursday 29 May, from 12:30 to 14:00 (CET), online, during the session “Which policies for the future of culture?” of the D-Factor conference.

🎙️ What to expect from the panel
The panel will feature authors Dea Vidović, Sara Paolella, and Fanny Bouquerel, alongside  Eleonora De Caroli, and Cristina Carlini from Liv.in.g. The discussion will be moderated by Giuliana Ciancio, who curated the editorial project. Starting from the structure of the volumes and the experiences they capture, the conversation will explore some of the most urgent questions facing the cultural sector today:

  • How can we design transformative and shared cultural policies?
  • What tensions exist between reality and its interpretation, and how do they influence cultural design?
  • What does it mean to speak of pluralist democracy in culture today?

This will be a valuable moment to reflect together on visions, practices, and policy-making strategies that aim to contribute to cultural and social change at a European level.

📚 About the books
The two publications offer a complementary perspective:

  • Call to Action, published in Italian by Franco Angeli, brings together voices from the field, maps, recommendations, and focus group results aimed at rethinking cultural policies in Italy.
  • Cultural Policy Pathways, available in English as a free PDF, broadens the scope internationally with contributions from Europe and the Global South, weaving together practices, cross-cutting themes, and forward-looking visions.

Both volumes are available in open access (EN version) and for purchase (IT version):
