Irena Boćkai is author and performing artist from Croatia (Pula/Zagreb) with an interest in body-based performing arts practices and broad spectrum of disciplines with an accent on performance art, bioart, performance lecture and interdisciplinary projects which are related with ecology, sociology, animal issues, digital technologies and the occupation of human and non-human relationship, theoretical researches in bioethics, psychoanalysis, mobility and social theory, natural science, misperformance studies. She holds a Masters degree in performing arts (Academy for Arts and Culture Osijek) and PhD in Arts and Humanities (interdisciplinary program of literature, performing arts, film and culture on Faculty of Humanities and Social Science in Zagreb). She performed in many performance art projects throughout Croatia and abroad (“Itinerant Performance Art Festival NYC”, New York; ACCO FRINGE, Israel; “London Contemporary”; “The Body Language”; ANIMA MUNDI, Venice; “Performing art 3days,” Pisa; ULICA STREET ART, Krakow…).
