NICHOLAS BONE – Liv.In.G. Live Internationalization Gateway

I am a director, writer and creative facilitator living in Edinburgh; I am Artistic Director of Magnetic North, which develops and produces new work as well as running a comprehensive multi-artform artist development programme. Recent work I have directed for Magnetic North includes ‘Aberdeen’ by David Fennessy (Spitalfields Festival and Sound Festival, 2021), ‘The Dream Train’ by Tom McGrath (digital production, 2020), ‘Getting Close’ by Kathy McKean (digital co-production with National Theatre of Scotland, part of Scenes for Survival, 2020), and ‘Stories from Here’ an international online event co-produced with Sans façon (Calgary, Canada) in partnership with Contemporary Calgary and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston in May 2020. Directing work elsewhere includes ‘Osama the Hero’ by Dennis Kelly at NIDA, Sydney, ‘London Road’ by Alecky Blythe and Adam Cork at Bristol Old Vic, ‘Denton and Me’ by Sam Rowe (Showroom/Made in Scotland showcase), and ‘Kora’ by Tom McGrath at Dundee Rep.

As a writer, my credits include ‘Lost in Music’ (music by Kim Moore), ‘A Walk at the Edge of the World’, ‘Pass the Spoon’ (co-creator with David Shrigley and David Fennessy), ‘Walden’, and Our Fathers (co-written with Rob Drummond) – all for Magnetic North – and ‘Happy Story’ (music by David Fennessy) for Scottish Opera. Two new commissions, ‘We Will Hear The Angels’ and ‘Gossip from the Forest’ (co-written with Martin O’Connor) will be premiered in 2023.
